Pittock Mansion is a favorite among local photographers. Depending on the morning, downtown Portland will be completely visible or partially hidden in fog. What everyone is really hoping for is a view of Mt. Hood.
Here are some tips for photographing sunrise at this location.
Be there at least 45 minutes prior to sunrise to get the good colors.
The road to the mansion is sometimes locked so be prepared for a small hike up the road (~10 to 15 minutes). And bring a light to help you see the road.
It can be chilly in the morning so be prepared.
