The first (real) meeting...

I have to say this as Max and I both played soccer at Soccerplex (him 3 years, me 2 years) but on different nights. I was on Tuesday nights and he played primarily on Wednesday nights (those who know Max know he played soccer most nights of the week and oddly Tuesday was one of the few he didn't).

Around April 2016 one of Max's Wednesday night teams (yes, he was on two for one night) moved to Tuesday nights. A little earlier than this I had subbed a few times for a Wednesday team and then was asked to join and decided sure why not.

I was on the house team on Tuesday nights which meant we were frequently in search of guys to play. One night we needed a guy to play when Miranda (who happened to go to Oregon State with Max) saw him there and knew he would be willing to help out as long as he wasn't playing. He did and ended up playing with my Tuesday night team a few times over the summer.

Needless to say both of us had noticed the other one but that was about it until one fateful Wednesday night.

Ok, now onto the real first meeting...

I had the earliest game at 5:55 and normally my team is quite good at putting the pitchers down. Oddly this night only one guy (JD) was going to stick around so we went at a pitcher just the two of us.  It just so happened that Max's team was playing the second game that night at 6:45.  JD had to leave around 6:30 and I was still working on my beer so I went over to the bar to chat with a few of the guys who worked there.  As I was sitting there I saw a couple of guys come up to order a pitcher of beer. One of them (Randy) proceeded to pour his beer and it was beyond horrible with half of the cup full of foam. I asked him what f*&king kind of pour was that? (BTW - that was the first thing I had ever said to Randy as I had not met him before). He started laughing about my comment and I went back to my drink and chatting with the guys.  As I was chatting, I saw Max come up and talk with Randy and another guy from his team and then they went and sat down behind me. Like I said, I had noticed him before.

After soccer (not first night just one of many nights there)

Shortly after this, I opened my phone to show one of the guys a game I was playing (Pokemon Go). He showed me he was playing Friends with Dice. At this point a Pokemon showed up and I caught it when I heard someone saying something behind me.  I turned around and said 'what' and he asked me what I had caught on Pokemon Go as he saw the ball spinning on my phone. I went over to talk to him about the game and instead of telling him what I had just caught I showed him my pokémon and the funny names I had given them like Bob and Chuck. He was also a little surprised to see that I was 2 levels higher than him also as I was at level 24 and he was level 22.

The rest of the night at soccer involved lots of drinking with his team and my being beyond blatantly obvious that I was interested in him and he must have gotten the hint cause as the night was ending I mentioned going to grab a bite to eat and we decided on Shari's. (For those who know Max, know he is a little slow when it comes to figuring out girls).  So we headed to Shari's and after getting some food of course opened Pokemon to see what was around. We saw multiple poke stops and a low gym that was on a trail in a wooded area with no lights so of course we proceeded to head that way so I could battle the gym and put a guy in. Max was kind enough to use his phone light so I could see and didn't even battle.

We walked back to our cars, had a nice hug and both left with the biggest smiles on our faces at such an amazing night.
